Should Summer Vacation Be Extended in Kashmir? Check Weather Forecast Insights
With the presence of a weak Western Disturbance, some regions might experience rain on July 18. Regardless of whether it rains, temperatures are anticipated to drop on that day.
But what comes next?
From July 19 onwards, temperatures are expected to climb again, potentially peaking around 34°C by Friday and Saturday.
Current weather forecasts also indicate the possibility of cloudy skies and occasional monsoon showers throughout the next week, which will likely keep daytime temperatures between 33°C and 34°C.
Is Extending Summer Vacation the Solution?
Extending the summer vacation may not be the best decision. Temperatures of 34°C or even 35°C are typical during summer and can be observed in August and sometimes in September. Extending the break every time the temperature rises isn’t feasible. Instead, we should acclimate to such temperatures, and the government should focus on improving school infrastructure, such as ensuring at least one fan in every classroom.
Here are some precautionary measures to consider:
1. Stay hydrated by drinking plenty of water, even if you don’t feel thirsty.
2. Wear lightweight and loose-fitting clothing.
3. Opt for light-colored clothes. Uniforms should be white or other light colors, as dark colors like black, dark blue, and dark green absorb more heat, while light colors reflect it.
4. Avoid morning assemblies and outdoor games during heatwave days; indoor games are preferable.
5. Apply sunscreen with a high SPF to protect the skin from harmful UV rays.
6. Avoid hot or heavy foods that can raise body temperature.
